Day 49: November 4 (Happy 7 week birthday Sam!)

November 5, 2010 by melragent Leave a Comment

Sam had his head and abdomen ultrasound today.  Once again, everything came back normal!  No bleeds, nothing to worry about, just good normal news.  Theresa tells me there will only be one more head ultrasound, and they will do that right around the time Sam is 37 weeks (he is currently 31 weeks).

We spent a lot of the day talking about when Sam will graduate to nursery 3.  I have a feeling it will happen soon.  I know it is a good sign, but there is a little piece of me that doesn’t want him to change rooms.  We like where we are, and are comfortable there, but understand that a move to nursery 3 is a good sign.  I did make sure that Laura would go with us when we do move, and that made me feel a lot better.  The hope is we can move into the spot where Bennett was- nice window spot and good juju from Bennett.

The big thing that happened today was Sam’s breastfeeding extravaganza.  Just like earlier this week, he latched on right away.  The only difference is this time, I could hear him swallowing milk.  In fact, he was sucking so hard he kept choking on the milk.  He is such an overachiever.  The rate he is going, tomorrow Sam is going to hit the big 3… 3 pounds that is!  So exciting.

Here are a few pics from today:

My only other adventure today was to finally deliver some thank you notes to a few key nurses down in Labor and Delivery.  It may have taken 7 weeks to write and deliver them, but I finally got it done.  The best part is I was able to hand delivery one of the notes to Jen T.  Jen was the nurse in triage when I first came in and she was with us on one of our tough decision days.  It was so great to see her again, and to be able to look her in the eye, thank her, and tell her how well Sam is doing.  I still get choked up when I think about the people that took such good care of me in L&D.  What a wonderful bunch of nurses!

OK- on to your moment of zen:
